RIO INTERNATIONAL OPEN IBJJF CHAMPIONSHIP

The tournament will take place on July 22th, 23th, 24th and 25th in Rio de Janeiro - Brazil.

DIVISIONS

Rio Open:

Junior 16/17 year-olds male

Only bluebelts
16 and 17 year-olds will compete in the same division

Athletes born on 1993 and 1994 are eligible to compete

Fight time: 5 minutes

Junior 16/17 year-olds female

There will be six weight divisions (check weight list)
Only bluebelts
16 and 17 year-olds will compete in the same division

Fight time: 5 minutes

Adult male

The division is allowed to athletes with 18 years old and more
Fight time: whitebelts - 5 minutes
Fight time: bluebelts - 6 minutes
Fight time: purplebelts - 7 minutes
Fight time: brownbelts - 8 minutes
Fight time: blackbelts -10 minutes

Adult female

There will be six weight divisions (check weight list)
Brown and blackbelts will compete in the same division
Adults only

Fight time: whitebelts - 5 minutes
Fight time: bluebelts - 6 minutes

Fight time: purplebelts - 7 minutes
Fight time: brown/blackbelts - 10


HOW TO ENROLL

Registration closed

The registration fees for the tournament are as follows: 

  • $58.00 - deadline: Wednesday, July 14, 2010
ABSOLUTELY NO REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11:59PM Wednesday, July 14, 2010! (GMT - 7, Greenwich Mean Time). Also, note that registration fee(s) are non-refundable. 

It is required to brown and black belts athletes to have a 2010 valid IBJJF, CBJJ or USBJJF membership id to register in the event. The registration is accepted upon submitting the 2010 valid id number.

More information on how to apply for IBJJF membership id card send an e-mail to rick@ibjjf.com.

The head coach of an academy's competition team shall be granted the right to change a competitor's registration information. Such changes are limited to: weight division, competitor's name/nickname, academy affiliation and those member's of the academy that will be competing in the open weight division.

Note: The International Master and Seniors, and The Rio Open International Championship will be held on the same days, at same venue. Despite the fact that these are two separate events, individuals may register for both events which are scheduled the same date and time. The competitors willing to compete in both events should be aware that there may be scheduling conflicts and there is a possibility of similar divisions being called at the same time. Should a conflict like this occur, there is a risk of the competitor being disqualified from one of the events.

Open Class Registration

Junior male and female: blue belts

To sign up for juvenile open class male and female, just check the box during your online registration. Open class available for middle weight or above.

Adult male and female: white belts
There is no open class.

Adult female: blue, purple and brown/black belts

To sign up for adult open class female, just check the box during your online registration.

Adult male: blue, purple and brown belts

Athletes who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their weight divisions are eligible to register for the Open Class bracket. The athletes willing to register in the open class should register at the event administration table after having his weight division medal awarded, according to the registration schedule . No registrations will be accepted after the registration closing time schedule.

Adult male: black belts

Black belts registered in the event are eligible to participate in the black belt open class division bracket.

The black belt athletes willing to participate in the open class division must apply their registration at the event administration table according to the event schedule.

No registrations will be accepted after the event registration closing time schedule.


REGISTRATION CHECK DAY

ALL ATHLETES MUST CHECK THEIR REGISTRATION INFORMATION ON THE REGISTRATION CHECK DAY - JULY 20 ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.IBJJF.ORG

Corrections by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the registration, by sending a email to ibjjf@ibjjf.com with the subject 'RIO OPEN CORRECTION'. The deadline is July 18 5PM Brazilian Time.

Registration Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is correct by checking the website on the registration list for their weight, belt, academy, age division, and name information. If there are any mistakes on the information (ei. typing mistakes by IBJJF) please send an email to ibjjf@ibjjf.com. (deadline July 20, 5PM Brazilian Time) .

The brackets will be released before the tournament . On Wednesday , July 21, the brackets will be available online at our website.

After the registration check day, no changes will be made and no refunds will be given.

During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets that were not correct previous to sign-in check day will lead to immediate disqualification.


WEIGH INS

Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the Gi. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight,they will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

All athletes should fight and weigh-in with tradicional weave fabric gi only (single, double or golden). All blue, all white or all black. No other kind of gi is allowed.


OTHER INFO

The schedule will be available July 20th - Schedule

Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems regarding the number of athletes in each division, please send an e-mail to IBJJF ibjjf@ibjjf.com.

Depending on the number of athletes in the tournament, some classes may not have an absolute division.

Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it at hand.
