THE TOURNAMENTS

PAN JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP 2007
The tournament will take place on March 30th, 31st and April 1st in California State University Dominguez Hills, Carson - California.

The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2007 is realized by United Brazilian States Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

> ONLINE REGISTRATION

The athletes must be at the warm up area, according to their fighting schedule.
The athlete only can enter in the fighing area when is called by the official.
In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm up area, and remain there till the next fight.
No coaching is alowed in the fighting area.

Corrections by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the registration at no charge, by sending a email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org with the subject 'PAN AMERICAN CORRECTION'. The deadline is March 26 5PM pst.

Registration Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is correct by checking the website on the registration list for their weight, belt, academy, age division, and name information. If there are any mistakes on the information (ei. typing mistakes by IBJJF) please send an email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org. (deadline March 28, 5PM pst) .

The IBJJF staff will be available at the Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear store on March 28 for the registration check day, from 11:00AM to 5:00PM. March 28 will be the last chance for any corrections on the registration information. Any change on the registration that was not a mistake by the IBJJF organization will have a fee of $25.

For the first time in the US, the brackets will be released before the tournament . On Thursday , March 29 the brackets will be available online at our website.

After the sign in check day, no changes will be made and no refunds will be given.

During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets that were not correct previous to sign-in check day will lead to immediate disqualification .

 

REFEREE COURSE

On Thursday, March 29, prior to the PanAmerican Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the IBJJF will be giving a Referee course.

PAN JIU-JITSU NO-GI CHAMPIONSHIP 2007
The first Pan Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi championship 2007 will be held on Friday, March 30th, prior to the main event.
This event will be separate from the gi tournament and points will be tallied separately for the academies as well.
The points breakdown is as follows: First place- 9 points, Second place- 3 points, and Third place - 1 point.
The event will be limited to 200 athletes. when the registration reaches this limit, no more registrations will be accepted.
(After the limit of 200 registrations, the only exceptions will be for the Black Belt divisions wich maybe accepted under IBJJF approval)

This No-Gi event is available only to the athletes that are registered in the gi tournament. The belt division that the athletes registered in the GI tournament will correspond to the belt division that they must register into the NO-GI tournament.

Each athlete will receive a No-GI kit wich has the value of U$60 sponsored by IBJJF . (this kit will be the official uniform for this competition, no other uniform is acceptable).

The rules will be same as the Gi tournament.

Male - Adults only;

There will be 5 weight categories on the male division and will be separated in blue, purple, brown and black belt.

PANAMERICAN JIU-JITSU NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

The PanAmerican novice championship 2007 will be held on Friday, March 30th, prior to the main event. On This event the points will be tallied separately from the main tournament. The points breakdown is as follows: First place- 9 points, Second place- 3 points, and Third place - 1 point. The event is for white belts only, MALE: ADULT or MASTER, and FEMALE: ADULT, and is intended to give budding competitors experience in the largest US tournament alongside many of the great athletes in sport jiu-jitsu.

  • Fight time: 5 minutes

  • There is no open class.

 

PANAMERICAN JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP 2007
DIVISIONS

Junior 16/17 year-olds

  • Only bluebelts

  • Men only

  • 16 and 17 year-olds will compete in the same division

  • Athletes born on 1990 and 1991 are eligible to compete

  • Fight time: 5 minutes

  • There is no open class.

Adults

  • The division is open for everyone, but athletes of other age divisions willing to compete here will not be allowed to fight in their own division (athletes can only enroll in one age division)

  • Fight time: bluebelts - 6 minutes; purplebelts - 7 minutes
    __________brownbelts - 8 minutes; blackbelts -10 minutes

Masters (30-35)

  • Athletes born between 1972 and 1977

  • Fight time: Bluebelts – 5 minutes

  • Purple/brown/blackbelts – 6 minutes

  • Men only

Seniors 1 (36-40)

  • Athletes born between 1967 and 1971.

  • Fight time: all belts - 5 minutes

  • Men only

Seniors 2 (41-45)

  • Athletes born between 1962 and 1966.

  • Fight time: all belts - 5 minutes

  • Men only

Seniors 3 (over 46)

  • Athletes born in 1961 and before.

  • Fight time: all belts - 5 minutes

  • Men only

Women

  • There will be five weight divisions (check weight list)

  • Brown and blackbelts will compete in the same division

  • Adults only

  • Fight time: Bluebelts - 6 minutes

  • Fight time: Purplebelts - 7 minutes
  • Fight time: Brown/blackbelts – 10 minutes

 

WEIGH INS AND HOW TO ENROLL

WEIGH INS

The weigh-in system is the same that is used in Brazil for the Mundial. Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the Gi. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight,they will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

All athletes should fight and weigh-in with tradicional weave fabric gi only (single, double or golden). All blue, all white or all black. No other kind of gi is allowed.

Jiu-Jitsu no-gi tournament weigh ins :

The weigh-in system is the same used in the regular gi competition. Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the No-Gi kit uniform on.

HOW TO ENROLL

A-) Mail registration

Mail registration deadline: March 20.

Please Note: The fee for early registration, i.e., received by 11:59pm Wednesday March 21st, is $80.00. The fee for late registration (received March 22nd - March 24th 11:59pm) will be $96.00. ABSOLUTELY NO REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11:59pm MARCH 24th! Also, note that registration fee(s) are non-refundable.

No-Gi Tournament:
Please Note: The fee for early registration, i.e., received by 11:59pm Wednesday March 21st, is $60.00. The fee for late registration (received March 22nd - March 24th 11:59pm) will be $72.00. OTHER INFO

Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems regarding the number of athletes in each division, please send an e-mail to IBJJF ibjjf@ibjjf.org.

Depending on the number of athletes in the tournament, some classes may not have an absolute division.

Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it at hand.
