The tournament will take place on May 01st, in City College New York - NY.

The New York International Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2010 is realized by United States Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

The athletes must be at the warm up area, according to their fighting schedule.
The athlete only can enter in the fighing area when is called by the official.
In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm up area, and remain there till the next fight.
No coaching is alowed in the fighting area.

The athletes from the following countries Brazil, France, Portugal, Japan and Canada must be affiliated with their countries national Brazilian jiu jitsu federation, and must bring federation ID at the event before their fights, otherwise you will not be able to compete.

The registration fees for the tournament are as follows: 

  • The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Tuesday, March 19, 2010 - Friday, April 02, 2010 11:59pm is US $92.00.
  • The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Saturday, April 03, 2010 - Friday, April 16, 2010 11:59pm is US $102.00.
  • The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Saturday, April 17, 2010 - Saturday, April 24, 2010 11:59pm is US $117.00.

ABSOLUTELY NO REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11:59PM Saturday, April 24, 2010! (GMT - 7, Greenwich Mean Time). Also, note that registration fee(s) are non-refundable. 

ADULT OPEN CLASS REGISTRATION

The athletes who placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each adult blue male, adult purple male and adult brown male weight division are eligible to compete in the Open Class division.The athletes who are eligible and wish to compete in this division should report to the admin table after your division is finished and the medals are awarded so that you may register.

THE FEDERATION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THE REGISTRATION when we reach full capacity, or April 24, wichever comes first.
Make sure to register early to save a spot.


REGISTRATION CHECK DAY - APRIL 29th

ALL ATHLETES MUST CHECK THEIR REGISTRATION INFORMATION ON THE REGISTRATION CHECK DAY - APRIL 29 ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.IBJJF.ORG

Corrections by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the registration, by sending a email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org with the subject 'NEW YORK OPEN CORRECTION'. The deadline is April 27, 5PM pst.

Registration Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is correct by checking the website on the registration list for their weight, belt, academy, age division, and name information. If there are any mistakes on the information (ei. typing mistakes by IBJJF) please send an email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org. (deadline April 29, 5PM pst) .

On Friday , April 30 the brackets will be available online at our website.

After the registration check day, no changes will be made and no refunds will be given.

During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets that were not correct previous to sign-in check day will lead to immediate disqualification .

Junior 16/17 year-olds

Only bluebelts
Men and Women
16 and 17 year-olds will compete in the same division

Athletes born on 1993 and 1994 are eligible to compete

Fight time: 5 minutes

Adults

The division is open for everyone, but athletes of other age divisions willing to compete here will not be allowed to fight in their own division (athletes can only enroll in one age division)
Fight time:
whitebelts - 5 minutes
bluebelts - 6 minutes
purplebelts - 7 minutes
brownbelts - 8 minutes
blackbelts -10 minutes

Masters (30-35)

Athletes born between 1975 and 1980
Fight time: Men only
White/bluebelts - 5 minutes
Purple/brown/blackbelts - 6 minutes
Men only

Seniors 1 (36-40)

Athletes born between 1970 and 1974.
Fight time: Men only
White/blue/purple/brown/blackbelts - 5 minutes

Seniors 2 (41-45)

Athletes born between 1965 and 1969.
Fight time: Men only
Blue/purple/brown/blackbelts - 5 minutes

Seniors 3 (over 46)

Athletes born in 1964 and before.
Fight time: Men only

Blue/purple/brown/blackbelts - 5 minutes

Women

There will be six weight divisions (check weight list)
Brown and blackbelts will compete in the same division
Adults only

Fight time:
whitebelts - 5 minutes
Bluebelts - 6 minutes

Purplebelts - 7 minutes
Brown/blackbelts - 10 minutes


WEIGH INS

Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the Gi. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight,they will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

All athletes should fight and weigh-in with tradicional weave fabric gi only (single, double or golden). All blue, all white or all black. No other kind of gi is allowed.


REFEREE COURSE

On Friday, April 30th, prior to the New York International Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the IBJJF will be giving a Referee course.

OTHER INFO

Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems regarding the number of athletes in each division, please send an e-mail to IBJJF ibjjf@ibjjf.org.

Depending on the number of athletes in the tournament, some classes may not have an absolute division.

Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it at hand.
