The tournament will take place on August 9th and 10th in California State University Dominguez Hills, Carson - California.

The World Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship 2008 and International Master & Senior Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship are realized by United States Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.

All athletes must get the event rash guard at the IBJJF booth one hour prior to the division schedule.

THIS IS AN OPEN EVENT. ALL ATHLETES OF ANY CITIZENSHIP ARE WELCOME TO COMPETE. TRIALS NOT REQUIRED.

The athletes must be at the warm up area, according to their fighting schedulle.
The athlete only can enter in the fighing area when is called by the official.
In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm up area, and remain there till the next fight.
No coaching is alowed in the fighting area.

The athletes from the following countries Brazil, France, Portugal, Canada and Japan must be affiliated with their countries national Brazilian jiu jitsu federation, and must bring federation ID at the event before their fights, otherwise you will not be able to compete.

UNIFORM:

MAN DIVISION UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

2 – BOARD SHORTS : THE COMPETITORS CAN ONLY COMPETE WITH ANY BLACK BOARD SHORTS (MUST BE ALL SOLID BLACK COLOR, NO OTHER COLORS WILL BE ACCEPTED).

NOTE; A EXCEPTION WILL BE MADE ON THE BLACK BELT ADULT DIVISION – THE COMPETITORS IN THIS DIVISION ARE ALLOWED TO USE ANY BRAND OF ALL SOLID BLACK COLOR RASH GUARD)

Corrections by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the registration at no charge, by sending a email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org with the subject 'NO-GI CORRECTION'. The deadline is August 5, 5PM PST.

Registration Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is correct by checking the website on the registration list for their weight, belt, academy, age division, and name information. If there are any mistakes on the information (ei. typing mistakes by IBJJF) please send an email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org. (deadline August 7, 5PM PST) .

The brackets will be released before the tournament . On Friday , August 8, the brackets will be available online at our website.

After the registration check day, no changes will be made and no refunds will be given.

During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets that were not correct previous to sign-in check day will lead to immediate disqualification.

WORLD JIU-JITSU NO-GI CHAMPIONSHIP
DIVISIONS

Junior (16/17 year-olds)

> Only bluebelts
> Men
> 16 and 17 year-olds will compete in the same division
> Athletes born on 1991 and 1992 are eligible to compete
> Fight time: 5 minutes
> There's no open class for juvenile
> Check the weight list
>All athletes must weighn in with the complete uniform (the weight list already includes the extra weight for the uniform)

Adults

The division is open for everyone (18 years old and above)
All athletes must weighn in with the complete uniform (the weight list already includes the extra weight for the uniform)

Fight time:

> bluebelts - 6 minutes;
> purplebelts - 7 minutes
> brownbelts - 8 minutes
> blackbelts -10 minutes

Women adult

There will be five weight divisions (check weight list)
All athletes must weighn in with the complete uniform (the weight list already includes the extra weight for the uniform)

Blue and Purple belts will compete in the same division
Brown and Black belts will compete in the same division

Adults only
Fight time:

> Blue/Purple - 7minutes
> Brown/blackbelts - 10 minutes

INTERNATIONAL MASTER & SENIOR JIU-JITSU NO-GI CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

The International Master & Senior Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship 2008 will be held on Saturday and Sunday, August 9th and 10th. On This event the points will be tallied separately from the main tournament. The points breakdown is as follows: First place- 9 points, Second place- 3 points, and Third place - 1 point. The event is for Blue, Purple, Brown and Black belts, MALE: MASTER and SENIOR 1, 2 and 3.

Masters (30-35)

• Athletes born between 1973 and 1978
  Fight time: Bluebelts – 5 minutes
  Purple/brown/blackbelts – 6 minutes
  Men only

Seniors 1 (36-40)

• Athletes born between 1968 and 1972.
  Fight time: all belts - 5 minutes
  Men only

Seniors 2 (41-45)

• Athletes born between 1963 and 1967.
  Fight time: all belts - 5 minutes
  Men only

Seniors 3 (over 46)

• Athletes born in 1962 and before.
  Fight time: all belts - 5 minutes
  Men only

WEIGH INS

Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight . There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight,they will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

STAFF

Score keepers and Ring Coordinators are needed for the 2008 World No-Gi championships.

Would you like a front row seat to see the world championships? Help our sport grow and be an active part of the development of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ?

We are currently filling staff positions for the 2007 World No-GI Championships. We are in need of time keepers and ring coordinators. You do not have to have any experience to be a time keeper or ring coordinator, just the willingness to hang in there for a long fun filled day. We will offer online tutorials and have a staff meeting at the start of each day to answer any questions that you might have.

REFEREE COURSE

On Friday, August 8, prior to the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the IBJJF will be giving a Referee course.

OTHER INFO

Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems regarding the number of athletes in each division, please send an e-mail to IBJJF ibjjf@ibjjf.org.

Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it at hand.

Depending on the number of athletes in the tournament, some classes may not have an absolute division.
