COMPETITOR'S GUIDE

The athletes must be at the warm up area, according to their fighting schedulle.
The athlete only can enter in the fighing area when is called by the official.
In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm up area, and remain there till the next fight.
No coaching is alowed in the fighting area.

In the white, blue, purlpe and brown the athletes from the following countries Brazil, France, Portugal, and Japan must be affiliated with their countries national Brazilian jiu jitsu federation, and must bring federation ID at the event before their fights, otherwise you will not be able to compete.

World Jiu-Jitsu championship 2010 - Black Belt division requirements

Starting at the worlds 2010, at any IBJJF event. It is mandatory for all the black belts to carry their federation membership id cards. Its required to present the I.D card to the event official prior to the match.

IBJJF Membership ids and affiliated federation ids accepted for this event; IBJJF (for non US, Brazil, Japan, France and Portugal residents the IBJJF id is applicable), USBJJF for US residents, CBJJ for Brazil Residents,  Japan federation for Japan residents, France Federation for France residentes and Portugal federation for Portugal residents.
For the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2010, IBJJF will release complimentary membership ids for the black belts registered in the world jiu-jitsu championship 2010. This includes the coaches with athletes registered in the event.

You need to have the 2 forms (student id and academy registration) filled and signed by a IBJJF certified instructor with minimum of 2 degrees in the Black Belt,.

  • Copy of picture id.
  • 1 profile picture

Scan all the images (picture id, photo and application form) and send via email to rick@ibjjf.com . May 21st is the deadline. No applications will be accepted after.

If you do not follow the guidelines, IBJJF reserves the right to deny participation of any athlete in this division. All registers in the Black Belt division are under IBJJF approval.

WORLDS JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP 2010 SUNDAY EVENT

IBJJF will issue passes to the coaches of the athletes qualified for Sunday event (June 6th).

Qualified coaches with  passes will be able to follow their athletes inside the competition area. The coach will be assigned to the  designated ring area.

Coaches with passes must leave the competition area after their athletes matches is done.
All qualified coaches will be subjected to the “Code of conduct for coaches”.

To qualify as coach and apply for the pass, you must have a black belt rank and have valid 2010 membership Id – IBJJF, USBJJF, CBJJ, Japan or Portugal.

OPEN CLASS DIVISIONS  REGISTRATION RULES

BLUE/PURPLE/BROWN BELT ADULT MALE DIVISIONS

Athletes who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their weight divisions are eligible to register for the Open Class bracket. The athletes willing to register in the open class should register at the event administration table after having his weight division medal awarded, according to the registration schedule . No registrations will be accepted after the registration closing time schedule.

Only 2 athletes per academy are allowed in the open class bracket. In case of more than 2 athletes of the same academy qualified and registered for the Open Class, the Head instructor must appoint the 2 who will represent their team.

BLACK BELT ADULT MALE DIVISIONS

Black Belts with IBJJF authorized valid membership Id’s, registered in the event are eligible to participate in the Black belt Open Class division bracket.

The Black Belt athletes willing to participate in the Open Class division, carrying their membership Id’s must apply their registration at the event administration table according to the event schedule.

No registrations will be accepted after the event registration closing time schedule.


REGISTRATION

Online registration is closed

The registration fees for the tournament are as follows: 

  • The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Thursday, April 22, 2010 - Saturday, May 01, 2010 11:59pm is US $96.00.
  • The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Sunday, May 02, 2010 - Friday, May 14, 2010 11:59pm is US $111.00.
  • The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Saturday, May 15, 2010 - Wednesday, May 26, 2010 11:59pm is US $126.00.
ABSOLUTELY NO REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11:59PM Wednesday, May 26, 2010! (GMT - 7, Greenwich Mean Time). Also, note that registration fee(s) are non-refundable. 

THE FEDERATION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THE REGISTRATION when we reach full capacity, or May 26, wichever comes first.
Make sure to register early to save a spot.


REGISTRATION CHECK DAY - May 31st

ALL ATHLETES MUST CHECK THEIR REGISTRATION INFORMATION ON THE REGISTRATION CHECK DAY - May 31st ON OUR WEBSITE WWW.IBJJF.ORG

Corrections by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the registration, by sending a email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org with the subject 'MUNDIALS CORRECTION'. The deadline is May 29th 5PM Pacific Time.

Registration Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is correct by checking the website on the registration list for their weight, belt, academy, age division, and name information. If there are any mistakes on the information (ei. typing mistakes by IBJJF) please send an email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org. (deadline May 31st, 5PM Pacific Time) .

The brackets will be released before the tournament . On Wednesday , June 2nd, the brackets will be available online at our website.

After the registration check day, no changes will be made and no refunds will be given.

During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets that were not correct previous to sign-in check day will lead to immediate disqualification .

Junior (16/17 years old)

> Athletes born on 1993 and 1994 are eligible to compete

> Open class available for middle weight or above

Adults

The division is open for everyone.

Fight time:

> bluebelts - 6 minutes;
> purplebelts - 7 minutes
> brownbelts - 8 minutes
> blackbelts -10 minutes


Women adult

There will be six weight divisions (check weight list)

Brown and blackbelts will compete in the same division

Adults only

Fight time:

> Bluebelts - 6 minutes
> Purplebelts - 7 minutes
> Brown/blackbelts - 10 minutes


INTERNATIONAL OPEN JIU-JITSU NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

The International Open Jiu-Jitsu novice championship 2010 will be held on Thursday, June 3th, prior to the main event. On This event the points will be tallied separately from the main tournament. The points breakdown is as follows: First place- 9 points, Second place- 3 points, and Third place - 1 point. The event is for white belts only, MALE: ADULT, MASTER or SENIOR 1, and FEMALE: ADULT, and is intended to give budding competitors experience in the largest World tournament alongside many of the great athletes in sport jiu-jitsu.

  • Fight time: 5 minutes

  • There is no open class.

WEIGH INS

Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the Gi. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight,they will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

All athletes should fight and weigh-in with tradicional weave fabric gi only (single, double or golden). All blue, all white or all black. No other kind of gi is allowed.


OTHER INFO

Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems regarding the number of athletes in each division, please send an e-mail to IBJJF ibjjf@ibjjf.org.

Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it at hand.

Depending on the number of athletes in the tournament, some classes may not have an absolute division.


REFEREE COURSE

On Wednesday, June 02th, prior to the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the IBJJF will be giving a Referee course.
