COMPETITOR'S GUIDE
THIS IS AN OPEN EVENT. ALL ATHLETES OF ANY
CITIZENSHIP ARE WELCOME TO COMPETE. TRIALS NOT REQUIRED.
The athletes must be at the warm up area,
according to their fighting schedulle.
The athlete only can enter in the fighing area when
is called by the official.
In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm
up area, and remain there till the next fight.
No coaching is alowed in the fighting area.
The athletes from the following
countries Brazil, France, Portugal, Japan and Canada
must be affiliated with their countries national Brazilian
jiu jitsu federation, and must bring federation ID at
the event before their fights, otherwise you will not
be able to compete.
REGISTRATION
ONLINE REGISTRATION
The registration fees for the tournament are as follows:
- The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Saturday, April 25, 2009 - Friday, May 15, 2009 11:59pm is US $111.00.
- The fee for registration in the Gi tournament , i.e., received from Saturday, May 16, 2009 - Tuesday, May 26, 2009 11:59pm is US $126.00.
ABSOLUTELY NO REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 11:59PM Tuesday, May 26, 2009! (GMT - 7, Greenwich Mean Time). Also, note that registration fee(s) are non-refundable.
The IBJJF/CBJJ/USJJF/USBJJF (hereinafter 'Organizer') hereby expressly reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, with or without cause to deny a potential athlete/competitor’s registration/application for permission to compete in the event. The terms athlete and/or competitor may be used interchangeably.
Black
belt division registration for athletes that don't carry
any Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Ids, are under IBJJF
aproval.
THE FEDERATION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THE REGISTRATION when we reach full capacity, or may 26, wichever comes first.

Corrections
by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the
registration, by sending a email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org
with the subject 'MUNDIALS CORRECTION'. The deadline
is May 31th 5PM Pacific Time.
Registration
Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is
correct by checking the website on the registration
list for their weight, belt, academy, age division,
and name information. If there are any mistakes on the
information (ei. typing mistakes by IBJJF) please
send an email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org. (deadline June 2nd,
5PM Pacific Time) .
The brackets will be released before the tournament
. On Wednesday , June 3rd, the brackets will be available
online at our website.
After the registration check day, no changes will be
made and no refunds will be given.
During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets
that were not correct previous to sign-in check day
will lead to immediate disqualification .

On Wednesday, June 03rd, prior to the Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship,
the IBJJF will be giving a Referee course.

Junior (16/17 years old)
> Only bluebelts

> 16 and 17 year-olds will compete in the same division
> Athletes born on 1992 and 1993 are eligible to
compete
> Fight time: 5 minutes
> Open class available for middle weight or above

Adults
The division is open for everyone.
Fight time:
> bluebelts - 6 minutes;
> purplebelts - 7 minutes
> brownbelts - 8 minutes

blackbelts -10 minutes
Women adult
There will be six weight divisions (check weight list)
Brown and blackbelts will compete in the same division
Adults only

INTERNATIONAL
OPEN JIU-JITSU NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP 2009
The
International Open Jiu-Jitsu novice championship 2009
will be held on Thursday, June 4th, prior to the main
event. On This event the points will be tallied separately
from the main tournament. The points breakdown is as
follows: First place- 9 points, Second place- 3 points,
and Third place - 1 point. The event is for white
belts only, MALE: ADULT, MASTER or SENIOR 1,
and FEMALE: ADULT,
and is intended to give budding competitors experience
in the largest World tournament alongside many of the
great athletes in sport jiu-jitsu.

is no open class.
STAFF
Score
keepers and Ring Coordinators are needed for the 2009
World championships.
Would you like a front row seat to see the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2009? Help our sport grow and be an active part of the development of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? We are currently filling staff positions for The 2009 World Jiu-Jitsu Championships. We are in need of time keepers and ring coordinators. You do not have to have any experience, just the willingness to hang in there for a long fun filled day. We will offer online tutorials and have a staff meeting at the start of each day to answer any questions that you might have.
All Volunteers will receive:
- Staff tee shirt
- Lunch
- Food and gas allowance
- USBJJF membership ID

WEIGH
INS
Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check
his/her weight with the Gi. There is only one opportunity
to check the weight. If the competitor does not make
his/her weight,they will be immediately disqualified.
Please make sure that you are in the correct weight
division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not
make your designated division. No changes
will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.
All athletes should fight and weigh-in with tradicional
weave fabric gi only (single, double or golden). All
blue, all white or all black. No other kind of gi is
allowed.
OTHER
INFO
Each academy can only have two athletes in the same
division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems
regarding the number of athletes in each division, please
send an e-mail to IBJJF ibjjf@ibjjf.org.
Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their
Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it at hand.
Depending
on the number of athletes in the tournament, some classes
may not have an absolute division. |
