The tournament will take place on August 23rd, 24th, 25th and 26th in California State University Long Beach, Long Beach, California, EUA.

THIS IS AN OPEN EVENT. ALL ATHLETES OF ANY CITIZENSHIP ARE WELCOME TO COMPETE. TRIALS NOT REQUIRED.

The athletes must be at the warm up area, according to their fighting schedulle.
The athlete only can enter in the fighing area when is called by the official.
In case of victory the athlete must return to the warm up area, and remain there till the next fight.
No coaching is alowed in the fighting area.

The athletes from the following countries Brazil, France, Portugal, and Japan must be affiliated with their countries national Brazilian jiu jitsu federation, and must bring federation ID at the event before their fights, otherwise you will not be able to compete.

Tickets will be available for sale on the box office at the event.

REGISTRATION

The only way to register is online registration.

Please Note: The fee for early registration, i.e., received by midnight Wednesday, July 18, 2007 is $90.00. The fee for registration (received July 19, 2007 through midnight, August 5, 2007) will be $105.00. The fee for registration (received August 6, 2007 through midnight, August 16, 2007) will be $120.00. ABSOLUTELY NO REGISTRATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER MIDNIGHT August 16, 2007, (GMT - 7, Greenwich Mean Time). Also, note that registration fee(s) are non-refundable.

Black belt division registration for athletes that don't carry any Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Ids, are under IBJJF aproval.

THE FEDERATION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CLOSE THE REGISTRATION when we reach full capacity, or august 16, wichever comes first.

Corrections by e-mail:
The athletes can send one e-mail with changes on the registration at no charge, by sending a email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org with the subject 'MUNDIALS CORRECTION'. The deadline is August 19 5PM GMT -7.

Registration Check day:
The athletes must make sure that their information is correct by checking the website on the registration list for their weight, belt, academy, age division, and name information. If there are any mistakes on the information (ei. typing mistakes by IBJJF) please send an email to ibjjf@ibjjf.org. (deadline August 21, 5PM GMT -7) .

The IBJJF staff will be available at the Jiu Jitsu Pro Gear store on August 21 for the registration check day, from 12:00AM to 5:00PM GMT -7. August 21 will be the last chance for any corrections on the registration information. Any change on the registration that was not a mistake by the IBJJF organization will have a fee of $25.

The brackets will be released before the tournament . On Wednesday , August 22 the brackets will be available online at our website.

After the registration check day, no changes will be made and no refunds will be given.

During the tournament, any mistakes on the brackets that were not correct previous to sign-in check day will lead to immediate disqualification .

REFEREE COURSE

On wednesday, August 22, prior to the Novice Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship and World Jiu-Jitsu Championship, the IBJJF will be giving a Referee course.

DIVISIONS

Junior (16/17 year-olds)

> Only bluebelts
> Men and Women
> 16 and 17 year-olds will compete in the same division
> Athletes born on 1990 and 1991 are eligible to compete
> Fight time: 5 minutes
> Open class available for middle weight or above
> Check the weight list

Adults

The division is open for everyone.

Fight time:

> bluebelts - 6 minutes;
> purplebelts - 7 minutes
> brownbelts - 8 minutes
> blackbelts -10 minutes


Women adult

There will be five weight divisions (check weight list)

Brown and blackbelts will compete in the same division

INTERNATIONAL OPEN JIU-JITSU NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP 2007

The International Open Jiu-Jitsu novice championship 2007 will be held on Thursday, August 23rd, prior to the main event. On This event the points will be tallied separately from the main tournament. The points breakdown is as follows: First place- 9 points, Second place- 3 points, and Third place - 1 point. The event is for white belts only, MALE: ADULT or MASTER, and FEMALE: ADULT, and is intended to give budding competitors experience in the largest World tournament alongside many of the great athletes in sport jiu-jitsu.

• Fight time: 5 minutes

• There is no open class.

WEIGH INS

Before his/her first fight, the athlete will check his/her weight with the Gi. There is only one opportunity to check the weight. If the competitor does not make his/her weight,they will be immediately disqualified. Please make sure that you are in the correct weight division. You can not change divisions ,if you do not make your designated division. No changes will be accepted in the tournament day, no refund.

All athletes should fight and weigh-in with tradicional weave fabric gi only (single, double or golden). All blue, all white or all black. No other kind of gi is allowed.

STAFF

Score keepers and Ring Coordinators are needed for the 2007 World championships.

We are currently filling staff positions for the 2007 World Championships in Long Beach, CA. We are in need of time keepers and ring coordinators. You do not have to have any experience to be a time keeper or ring coordinator, just the willingness to hang in there for a long fun filled day. We will offer online tutorials and have a staff meeting at the start of each day to answer any questions that you might have.

Each academy can only have two athletes in the same division (of age/weight/belt). If your academy has problems regarding the number of athletes in each division, please send an e-mail to IBJJF ibjjf@ibjjf.org.

Before each fight, athletes will be asked to show their Ids to the officials. Make sure you have it at hand.


Depending on the number of athletes in the tournament, some classes may not have an absolute division.
